Director of Business Operations

The Director of Business Operations is responsible for managing the Finance, IT, Human Resources, and Marketing functions of the firm. The Director of Business Operations reports to the President, supervises the support staff, and interacts with all staff members. The position has a high degree of autonomy to implement processes, new projects, and improvements to company operations.



  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline (e.g., business, technology, accounting, finance); Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in business operations (finance, consulting, technology, etc.)
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Organizational and management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Attention to detail with a passion for quality and accuracy of work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal communications)
  • QuickBooks Online and payroll (Paycor) experience preferred
  • Experience in the hospitality and/or consulting industries a plus



  • Monitor the company budget and conduct trend analyses on expenses and financial performance
  • Review financial statements and conduct P&L analysis using QuickBooks Online
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Review and approve expense reports and invoices
  • Sign checks, oversee company bank accounts, and manage cash
  • Manage accounts receivable and collections
  • Work with external bookkeeper


  • Understand, support and improve business consulting models in Excel for appraisal and feasibility studies
  • Work with the managed services provider to escalate support issues, coordinate implementation projects, and review strategic plan
  • Provide some first level internal end user support and troubleshoot issues with hardware and software (Office 365)
  • Train staff on technology as needed


  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on marketing strategy and budget
  • May interact with prospective clients, provide information about the firm, and draft proposals

Human Resources

  • Calculate monthly incentive compensation and quarterly bonus payments
  • Process payroll using Paycor and administer the SIMPLE-IRA plan
  • Maintain confidential employee records
  • Administer benefits, enroll new hires, update changes in status
  • Work with external Human Resources Consultant


  • Develop and implement processes to improve operations, monitor costs, and improve staff morale and productivity
  • Facilitate the company strategic planning process
  • Supervise the support staff (4 – 5 employees)
  • Review and edit reports and assist consultants as needed
  • Manage the relationship with building management

Flexible schedule, approximately 25 – 30 hours per week
