Hersheypark Introduces Record-Breaking Ride and New Experiences
Thrill-seekers had something new to scream about in 2025 as Hersheypark debuted Twizzlers Twisted Gravity, the world’s tallest “Screamin’ Swing” ride. Standing at 137 feet, this high-flying pendulum ride hits speeds of up to 68 mph with two 20-person gondolas. The park also added two new themed retail shops this season, and over at The Hotel Hershey, guests can now enjoy 1933 Restaurant & Tavern—a stylish new dining spot inspired by the Prohibition era.Hershey Company Expands with New Reese’s Manufacturing Plant
In a major move for local manufacturing, The Hershey Company opened a brand-new, 250,000-square-foot Reese’s Chocolate Processing Plant in April 2025—the first new facility built in Hershey in over 30 years. Currently employing about 100 workers, the plant is part of Hershey’s larger $1 billion investment strategy, which also includes upgrades to 24 production lines across North America.Hershey Hits the Big Screen
Hollywood has arrived in Hershey. Production is underway for a feature film titled Hershey, telling the story of Milton and Catherine Hershey’s remarkable legacy. Filming is taking place across central and western Pennsylvania, with a release date scheduled for 2026. The film is expected to shine a national spotlight on Hershey’s rich history and boost tourism to the area’s iconic attractions.New Regional Aquatics Center in the Works
In February 2025, plans were approved for a new 48,000-square-foot SwimHershey Aquatics Center, a regional training and competition facility that will serve youth and collegiate athletes. Located just east of Hershey Gardens, this community-driven project is currently in the fundraising stage and is poised to enhance the area’s draw as a regional sports destination.Three Mile Island Set for a High-Tech Comeback
In a surprising development, Constellation Energy and Microsoft have partnered to revive the long-dormant Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in nearby Middletown. The plant, which has been shut down since the 1979 meltdown, is expected to reopen in 2028 and provide power to Microsoft’s growing network of AI data centers. If successful, this project could represent a new era for energy innovation in the region.
