A recent article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer highlighted six new hotels that opened in the Cleveland market in the last 18 months. In addition to providing interesting facts about hotel occupancy and average daily rate, the article includes H&LA President David Sangree’s insight on what’s driving the city’s hotel boom.

David Sangree is attending the North America Hotel Investment Conference in Chicago on November 19th – 21st. David will be moderating the panel entitled “More Revenue Management.”

H&LA consultants are headed to Vernon, New Jersey; Mashantucket, Connecticut; Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and Kalamazoo and Traverse City, Michigan for fieldwork and market analysis related to hotel litigation support, indoor waterpark appraisals, and a hotel appraisal.

Hotel & Leisure Advisors completed the waterpark feasibility study for the under-construction Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark in Tannersville, Pennsylvania, which is set to open in 2015.

Mr. Eric B. Hansen, AIA, ISHC attended the three-day Ohio Conference on Tourism, held in Springfield, Ohio last week. As an officer of the Board of Directors, and Co-chairman of the Legislative Committee for the Ohio Travel Association (OTA), Mr. Hansen delivered the annual PAC speech during the Ohio Tourism Leadership Dinner on Wednesday evening, with an emphasis on the industry advocacy role the OTA engages in on a daily basis.

The Columbus Dispatch recently posted an article about the record attendance at Zoombezi Bay Waterpark in Columbus, Ohio. The article cites the addition of a new attraction, Baboon Lagoon, as contributing to the high attendance levels for 2014.

David Sangree, MAI, CPA, ISHC will be attending the World Waterpark Association (WWA) Annual Tradeshow and Symposium in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 26-29, 2014.

Garvin County, Oklahoma is the latest destination for an H&LA consultant this week. There to gather information for a hotel impact study, the consultant will analyze the local hotel market and conduct interviews with market participants.

Eric B. Hansen, AIA, ISHC is attending the Ohio Conference on Tourism being held next week in Springfield, Ohio October 15 -17th. The Ohio Conference on Tourism is Ohio’s signature event for learning about the $38 billion tourism industry in Ohio.

Our consultants will be conducting fieldwork and analyzing the Cleveland, Ohio market as we prepare a hotel feasibility study for a proposed boutique hotel.
