Hotel fees, surcharges to hit record in 2015

Hotel News Now has reported that total fees and surcharges collected by U.S. hotels are forecast to increase to another record level of $2.47 billion in 2015, according to the latest NYU report. The increase for 2015 reflects a combination of approximately 3.0 percent more occupied hotel rooms than in 2014, more charging of fees and surcharges, and higher amounts charged, for a total increase of approximately 5.0 percent.

Resort fees are a boon for most hoteliers, adding to the bottom line by offsetting the costs for providing certain amenities for guests. As more hotels jump on the resort fee trend and as costs continue to rise, it’s easy to see why resort fees will climb in 2015. To read the article on Hotel News Now, click here
